Today’s look was inspired by the iconic look of Chanel.  I love tweed and leather together as tweed jackets never come off to matronly or uptight when combined with some badass leather pieces!  I have always loved fashion history and had a soft spot in my heart for Coco Chanel.  She was a very fascinating woman with a very foward thinking fashion philosophy for her time.  She inveted the little black dress!  She freed women from the corset!  She was someone who was unafraid to shake things up and was always finding ways to make fashion work better for women.  She also was a big believer in costume jewelry and that great jewels didn’t necessarily mean real jewels that could only be obtained by great wealth.  She once said, “Costume jewelry is not made to give women an aura of wealth,
but to make them beautiful.”  I am a big fan of jewelry and at this time in my life I have quite a collection of costume jewelry.  Afterall, jewelry can add a lot to the most basic of looks. I leave you today with another quote from the Great Coco Chanel:

“Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.”

Spring has been taking a little longer than usual to come to New York City but for me it always helps to dress in pastel spring hues to get the season to come quicker! I love getting a full skirt to twirl and so this was a great look for dancing in.  Nothing like spinning in a circle skirt, am I right ladies?! So heres hoping that April showers bring May flowers and not just flower crowns to this girls head!  Happy Early spring!
